Our guest speaker will be Steve Baird, representing the State of Jefferson. The meeting begins at 6:30 PM., at the Metropolitan Event Center, 55 Main Street, San Andreas. Efforts to form a 51st State have been growing in your neighboring rural counties, whose residents have grown tired of not having a voice in government, where actions and decisions are based on the voters from greater Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay areas.

The Martian Review: Lost in Space ~ By Brett Bunge

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/11/2015 11:12 AM
Hollywood, CA...First things first: The Martian is a pretty good movie. Like all good films, however, it comes with a catch. In this case, if you don’t like Matt Damon, you will probably not like this film, as it is two hours of Mr. Damon. That said, he delivers an extraordinary performance, filled with surprising amounts of humor, and an-all star cast carries the rest of the film, which stands on its own as a solid drama, and one that audiences will enjoy even if they haven’t read the book.

President Obama's Weekly Address: Writing the Rules for a Global Economy

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/10/2015 05:48 PM
Washington, DC... Hi, everybody. This week, after five years of effort with eleven other nations, we reached agreement on a new trade deal that promotes American values and protects American workers. There’s a reason this Trans-Pacific Partnership took five years to negotiate. I wanted to get the best possible deal for American workers. And that is what we’ve done. Here’s why it matters. Ninety-five percent of the world’s consumers live outside our borders -- 95 percent. They want to buy American products. They want our cars; our music; our food. And if American businesses can sell more of their products in those markets, they can expand and support good jobs here at home.

Valley Springs, CA...Our hearts go out to the entire community the past few weeks, and especially to those who have lost their homes in the recent fires. Sam, who many of you know, is a board member of the Calaveras Consolidated Fire Protection District. He has a couple of tops and safety checks he wants to share, “If the fire burned close to your home or you burned shrubs next to your home in a proactive manor, the heat and smoke may have caused damage to an outside air conditioning system. The excess heat can cause some insulation and wiring to melt, and the smoke and ash may clog the filters and condenser coils – affecting the home’s indoor air quality, as well as decreasing the efficiency of your system, increasing the energy consumption, and making your system work harder. All of this shortens the like of your system and we recommend you inspect your system or have a professional do this for you.”
