The 2013 Calaveras County Fair and Frog Jump Jubilee Ribbbon Cutting, Tower Family and Veterans Quilts
Posted by: thepinetree on 05/21/2013 01:38 PM
Angels Camp, CA....The Tower Family was honored for their contributions at the ribbon cutting ceremony to get the fair officially underway on Thursday. Local veterans were also honored with quilts. We have video and photos from Lydia Stafford as well....
Murphys, CA....I have a favorite author, James Lee Burke. His novels are mystery/adventures. There is plenty of action , but the books are also filled with Burke’s detailed and rich descriptive passages of the bayous and Cajun countryside. All of the characters are complex and interesting. The villains are complicated and have good as well as evil within them. They are not cardboard figures. As one interview stated, the recurring themes are “social justice and the search for redemption.”
Photos Starting to Go Up....Frog Jump Finals Video and Photos
Posted by: thepinetree on 05/20/2013 06:08 PM
Angels Camp, CA...(Update We now have the complete Frog Jump Finals Video posted below. Over two hours) No it isn't a typo we shot over 1,000 frames at the Frog Jump Finals. The shots show how committed the jockeys are to spur the frogs on to greatness. And yes they are launching themselves towards the frogs on cement with just a bit of indoor outdoor carpet. Many, many, many duplicates as at the finals we usually shoot in bursts to get a few shots of each contestant and jump. The ones below have been cropped and we will be cropping and editing down many more for publicly acceptable shots. We have uploaded these at a 1024 x 768 resolution so if you were an entrant you will have a little larger image to play with for your own amusement...

Washington, DC...Remarks of President Barack Obama, Weekly Address. The White House May 17, 2013. Hi, everybody. Over the past few months, I’ve laid out a series of commonsense ideas to reignite the true engine of our economic growth: a rising, thriving middle class. And three: making sure your hard work leads to a decent living....
