Murphys, CA - Riley Klassen and the Klassen family present the 8th Annual Klassen Klassic Turkey Trot, taking place at Murphys Community Park on November 27, 2014. The event consists of a road race-open to serious runners, as well as walkers, joggers, kids, strollers, and dogs. Two distances are available, a 2.5 mile as well as a 5. Both courses start and end at the Murphys park. Participants are asked to bring a non-perishable canned food item as their registration fee. Registration will start at 8 am, and the race will start at 9am. Registration fee is one item of canned food per person. The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has removed the snow, cleared the debris and made the necessary repairs to reopen State Route 108 (SR-108) over Sonora Pass on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at 12:15 p.m. The pass originally closed on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, but thanks to the diligent work of Caltrans, crews enabled the reopening of the pass in time for this holiday weekend....

Valley Springs, CA...Sometime on Sunday, 29 year-old Michael Rankin was riding a 2007 Suzuki Motorcycle eastbound on Hogan Dam Road, east of Silver Rapids Road at an unknown rate of speed. For unknown reasons the motorcycle overturned onto it's left side and collided with the asphalt roadway. The rider was ejected and collided with a metal fence post, and came to rest on the grass shoulder south of Hogan Dam Road...
