Washington, DC...Hello, everybody. Today, the Treasury Department is announcing the largest set of sanctions ever imposed in connection with North Korea. This action targets the deceptive shipping practices that have enabled the Kim regime to fund its dangerous weapons programs. Our actions target shipping and trade companies, vessels, and individuals across the world who we know are working with North Korea’s behalf. Specifically, we are sanctioning 27 entities, 28 vessels, and 1 individual, all involved in sanctions evasions schemes.

Angels Camp, CA...On February 23, 2018, Bret Harte FFA held their annual Petting Zoo Extravaganza. This event is planned for weeks by the Ag Science 2 class and one of the advanced floral classes headed by two committee chairs Rowan Perry and Dominic Santella. The event included a coloring station with a lesson on farming, animal mask making station, a small animal station, a large animal station, and a tomato seed planting station. We had a variety of animals which included rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, sheep, goats, and pig.

Missing Hiker Found Safe In Yosemite National Park

Yosemite, CA...Alan Chow, the hiker missing in Yosemite National Park since Tuesday, February 20, has been found safe today. Chow, who was backpacking alone, was spotted from a National Park Service helicopter around Noon today above Wapama Fall in the Hetch Hetchy area after an extensive search the past several days. . He was transported to the Hetch Hetchy Ranger Station where he is doing well. Chow sustained minor injuries and has been reunited with family members

San Andreas, CA...Volunteers with the American Red Cross in the Calaveras, Tuolumne, and Amador counties are organizing a community outreach event focused on safety and preparedness. On average, the American Red Cross Gold Country Region responds to home fires every eight hours. In addition to home fires, volunteers in the region respond to flooding, wildfires, lightning strikes, and more. Being prepared can help save lives.

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People!. 5″ of new snow has fallen since 4pm yesterday and 11″ for the storm total! It’s gonna be a cold smoke powder day Good People with an overnight low of 5F it’s time to get on up here! It’s a clear and cold morning as we dig into the day and the suggested high should come in around 24F with SE winds from 0-11mph then shifting to the ENE later in the day as the system heads East so dress warm! Saturday looks to be mostly sunny with a slight chance of afternoon snow showers. As the storm door continues to open we’ll see snow most of next week! Rich Hoffman, CEO at Jackson Rancheria Casino and Hotel, deserves our special thanks. As a loyal supporter and business partner for many years, the Rancheria maintains a determined commitment to support the local community and non-profit organizations in Calaveras County. San Andreas, CA...Calaveras County Arts Council is proud to present an art show called “Artspirit.” Artwork will be by middle school and high school students in Calaveras County. Sonora, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept..."There have been several vehicle break-ins reported to our office this week that occurred in the Jamestown area of Jamestown Road, Chicken Ranch Road and Seco Street. Valuables such as wallets and important paperwork were taken. These vehicles were left unlocked making it easy for the thief to take advantage of the opportunity and get away quickly. Parkland, Fl...Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel relieved Deputy Scot Peterson from duty and Deputy Peterson has retired after video of the shooting incident revealed that although he was armed and on scene when the shooting occurred he failed to engage the shooter but remained outside the building during the shooting. Attorney General Becerra Establishes Bureau of Environmental Justice

Sacramento, CA...California Attorney General Xavier Becerra today announced that he is establishing a Bureau of Environmental Justice (Bureau) within the Environment Section at the California Department of Justice. The Bureau’s mission will be to protect people and communities that endure a disproportionate share of environmental pollution and public health hazards. This will be accomplished through oversight, investigation, and enforcement of the law. The Bureau’s attorneys will work primarily with attorneys in the Environment Section handling environmental enforcement matters on behalf of Attorney General Becerra. They will also coordinate with and utilize the expertise of other sections within the Attorney General’s Office, as needed.

Industrial Accident in Angels Camp Sends Two By Mediflight!

Angels Camp, CA...Yesterday morning an industrial accident injured at least two workers that were flown to out of area hospitals. Initial reports are that a piece of equipment may have come into contact with high voltage power lines. Our prayers are with the injured and hope they make a speedy recovery. Jeanne Marelli (Stewart) Gibbens Has Passed Away At 92

San Andreas, CA...Jeanne Marelli (Stewart) Gibbens, a longtime resident of San Andreas, passed away on Feb. 13, 2018, at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her son, Greg Gibbens, in 1965; her husband, Ellis “Al” Gibbens in 1988 and her brother, LaVerne Stewart in 2011. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Fred Gerard of San Andreas, CA; her daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Rob North of Zephyr Cove, NV; and by her five grandchildren, Jeanne’ (Rick) Campbell of Half Moon Bay, Jaime (Tobin) Nelson of San Mateo, Joshua Gerard of San Andreas, Sierra (Celia Carter) North of Oakland, and Skyler (Cari) North of Leander, TX. In addition to being grandmother to five, she is survived by her 14 great-grandchildren.

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People!. 5am and things are just about to get going as the storm slows a bit and will shed the bulk of its moisture during the day today. A high in the low 20’s will be in effect with increased winds up to 20-30mph today as the pressure gradient tightens. 3-5″ of new snowfall is expected during the day today with another 1-2″ slated to fall tonight. Unsettled weather will remain over the area for the next 5-6 days with a handful of small systems moving through as next week will again open the storm door with moderate upper level moisture coupled with more cold arctic air. We’re also making copious amount snow as temps are prime for that kind of production. Remember, we’re about “Pure Mtn Fun” so come check us out this Winter !!!!! stay tuned………………………….
