Hey Good People!!!! Bear Valley Weather & Getting Ready For Opening Day!! ~By Mattly Trent

Posted by: thepinetree on 11/24/2015 09:26 AM
Bear Valley, CA...Covered skies are getting darker as the current storm system approaches. Winds are picking up into the 20 mph range and the temp is a cool 28f. The fast moving nature and trajectory of this system should see some impressive snowfaal by the hour totals in the first half of the cycle. 5-9" is expected today and another 4-8' tonight and some residual snowfall 2-4" is expected to linger around Wednesday and Thursday. The system willl include some cold air mass out of AK and we could see temps dip into the single digits over the next few nights. Snow making will come online in the next 24hrs to supplement mother nature and possibly give Ullr a reason to compete...........All said, gearing up for opening is moving along nicely and we look forward to seeing everyone over the Holiday weekend. CHeck our website and our Facebook page for even more details. Peace Out!

Caltrans Announces Winter Ebbetts Pass Closure

Posted by: thepinetree on 11/23/2015 03:00 PM
Alpine County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has closed State Route 4 (SR-4) for the winter as of Sunday, November 22, 2015. The recent storms, and accumulation of snow, make the seasonal closure necessary for the safety of motorists and Caltrans crews. The weather conditions on the pass and subsequent road conditions are among the determining factors in the decision to make the seasonal closure. Once the pass is closed for winter, it will not be reopened until conditions warrant. Each year, Caltrans crews work diligently to clear debris, remove snow and make repairs so the highway can reopen by Memorial Day Weekend.

President's Weekly Address: In the Face of Terror, We Stand as One

Posted by: thepinetree on 11/22/2015 12:04 PM
Washington, DC.... Good morning everyone. This past week we’ve seen the best and the worst of humanity. The heinous terrorist attacks in Paris and Beirut, in Iraq and Nigeria. They showed us once again the depths of the terrorist’s depravity. And at the same time we saw the world come together in solidarity. Parisians opening their doors to anyone trapped in the street, taxi drivers turning off their meters to get people home safety, people lining up to donate blood. These simple human acts are a powerful reminder that we cannot be broken and in the face of terror we stand as one. In the wake of these terrible events, I understand the anxiety that many Americans feel. I really do. I don’t dismiss the fear of a terrorist bomb going off. There’s nothing President Obama and I take more seriously though, than keeping the American people safe.
