Marshes Fire Now At 850 Acres & Hwy 49 Closed Between Hwy 120 and Hwy 132.

Coulterville, CA...The Marshes Fire is now at 850 acres and Hwy 49 is closed from Hwy 120 to Hwy 132. The fire broke out early this afternoon and is burning off of Hwy 49 and Marshes Flat Road north of Don Pedro Reservoir. The Moccasin Estate Subdivision is under mandatory evacuations at this time. The Evacuation Center is located at the Hacienda at 5182 Fuentes de Flores, La Grange, CA 95329.

Moccasin, CA...(Update as of 3:52pm...Some good news...Accarding to TCU Command, acreage holding at 150 acres, closing evacuation center, sounds like they are getting ahead of this one!!) (Update as of 2:38pm...150 acres, Hwy 49 Closed in area, structure threats and localized evacuations, evacuation center at Hetch Hetchy School, be safe out there!!), (Update as of 1:39pm....Fire now up to the 50 acre range with structures threatened, heavy tankers on order), (Update as of 12:58pm...TCU Command has the fire at 7 Acres with a moderate rate of spread.) Fire personnel on ground and air are on way to a reported vegetation fire near Marshes Flat Road & Hwy 49. Please use caution in the area... Peter D. Speno, 69 From Murphys Lost His Life In Utica Grade Accident

Murphys, CA...Mr. Speno was traveling eastbound on State Route 4 east of Lower Utica Powerhouse Road, at 45-50 miles per hour. Mr. Speno, for an unknown reason, turned his 2006 Chevrolet to the right traveling off the roadway and down a dirt embankment. The HHR overturned on Utica Powerhouse Road and continued in a southeasterly direction through a barbed wire fence and into the Murphys After Bay. The vehicle became completely submerged, upright, in the Murphys After Bay. Unfortunately, Mr Speno sustained fatal injuries in the collision.

Murphys, CA...The purpose of this meeting is to discuss revisions of the current monthly water rates pertaining to the Union Public Utility District. Currently the rate is 1.00 per month which was established on July 2nd, 1994 and is insufficient to cover the District's increasing cost to purchase water from Union Public Utility District. The 2016 Water Rate Cost of Service Study is on file and available for review at the district office at 339 Main Street, Murphys, CA 95247 and will also be reviewed at the public hearing on Thursday, November 3, 2016. During the public hearing any person may appear before the board of directors and be heard as to the proposed changes.

The entire community is invited to participate in the annual ‘Pink in the Night’ opening ceremony September 26th, in Valley Springs at the Terrace’s (Common Grounds) at 7:00pm. This race will kick off with a Kids 1 Mile Fun Run at 8:00am. 5K & 10K will start at 8:30. All races begin in historic downtown Angels Camp at The Visitors Center. The race will conclude at Utica Park in Angels Camp. Along the race route, runners will enjoy many scenic and historic elements along the way to include Angels Creek, Gold Cliff, Lightner Mine, views of Bear Mountain and Greenhorn Creek Golf Course. Traffic Update...Vehicle Off Roadway & Into Water

Murphys, CA...Emergency crews are on scene and CPR is underway on a victim in a collision where a vehicle went off the roadway near Hwy 4 & Utica Powerhouse Road. The vehicle overturned into the water. Let's pray this one has a happy ending....(Update...This was a fatality and notifications are still underway for family members. Many of our local emergency personnel were on hand and working to try and save the decedent's life. One firefighter we saw had pretty severe hand lacerations sustained in his efforts. The vehicle was recognizable as a local vehicle as we noticed a logo in the window. One has to wonder if there might have been a contributing medical incident or some other contributing factor as the driver had probably traveled this road hundreds of times....

The 20th Annual Ironstone Concours Is Tomorrow!! Don't Miss One Of The Best Shows In The Country!

Murphys, CA...The Ironstone Concours features over 300 Classic & Vintage Cars from the early 1900s through the 1940s, 50s & 60s Cruisers & Muscle Cars, as well as Vintage Commercial Vehicles and Motorcycles. All on full display and the Ironstone Amphitheatre on the grounds to the Ironstone Winery in Murphys, CA. Come on out to see some great cars and help out local charities. Proceeds from the Ironstone Concours d’Elegance benefit Central and Northern California youth in agriculture, notably FFA and 4-H. Additionally, the non-profit Ironstone Foundation has helped fund the California State FFA headquarters in Galt, scholarships in partnership with the California State Fair, and the Calaveras County Fair Scholarship program. The Best of Show for 2015 went to Michael King for his 1932 Ford B-150 Station Wagon. It was his father's car and he did most of the restoration work himself. The very first event we covered for was the Ironstone Concours d' Elegance. It always has a special place on the calendar for us and we try to take a picture or two of every entrant in the event. We also have the Awards Ceremony in HD Video. This event showcases the cars and Ironstone Vineyards as the works of art that they are. The poster for 2016 and links to the 2015 show are below...

Oh Deer, Minor Injuries In Rollover Collision On Hwy 4 This Morning

Murphys, CA....A San Andreas man was driving a 2001 Honda Passport eastbound on SR-4 east of Northwood Drive at 50 miles per hour. A deer ran from the left side of the road, across the westbound lane and into the eastbound lane. He observed the deer in his path and applied the brakes, but was unable to avoid a collision and the right front of the Honda struck the deer. The San Andreas man lost control of this vehicle and it traveled onto the south shoulder. The Honda traveled up the dirt embankment, causing the vehicle to overturn and come to rest in the the roadway, blocking the eastbound lane.

Investigation Continues Into Suspicious Death Of San Andreas Woman

San Andreas, CA...On September 21, 2016 at 9:27 AM Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to an apartment at the Creekside Apartment complex, San Andreas for a welfare check on one of the tenants that had not been seen recently. A deputy located a deceased person inside the apartment. Sheriff’s Detectives responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. Investigators learned that a silver 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV (California License Plate 7NUG011) registered to the tenant is unaccounted for at this time. The identity of the victim cannot be confirmed until an autopsy can be completed, but it appears to be a female adult.

Linda Bowser, 69 From Stockton Lost Her Life In Hwy 4 Collision This Morning

Copperopolis, CA...A Copperopolis man was stopped for road construction in his Freightliner truck in the eastbound traffic lane. Mrs Bowser was driving her Dodge van eastbound, approaching the stopped traffic with a North Highlands man traveling behind her. For an unknown reason, Mrs Bowser allowed her vehicle to drift to the right and partially onto the shoulder. She failed to observe the stopped traffic and the front left corner of her vehicle impacted the right rear corner of the stopped Freightliner. The North Highlands man observed the collision however he was unable to stop his vehicle and the front of his Isuzu impacted the Dodge van. Unfortunately, Mrs Bowser sustained fatal injuries in the collision. The roadway was blocked with one way traffic control for approximately 3 hours.
