Columbia, CA...The driver of the Ford F-250 from yesterday’s traffic collision has been identified as 45 year old San Andreas resident Renee Ilene Hogan. She is still in critical but stable condition at UC Davis Intensive Care Unit. On September 20, 2017, at approximately 1015 hours, a 3 axle Peterbilt dump truck loaded with sand was traveling northbound on SR-49 south of Springfield Road at approximately 45 mph. A Ford F-250 pick-up truck was traveling southbound SR-49 south of Springfield Road at an unknown speed.

West Point, CA...When filmmaker and award-winning writer, Lisa Michelle, of West Point, decided to bring her screenplay, Common Ground, to life, she knew that Calaveras County was the perfect location. The rural atmosphere and the children who reside in West Point, Wilseyville, and Rail Road Flat represented the authenticity in the story that Michelle wanted to tell. The supporting characters and extras were cast entirely from Calaveras County residents.

Major Injuries to Woman Flown to UC Davis, Minor Injuries to Big Rig Driver in Hwy 49 Collision

Columbia, CA...On September 20, 2017, at approximately 1015 hours, a 3 axle Peterbilt dump truck loaded with sand was traveling northbound on SR-49 south of Springfield Road at approximately 45 mph. A Ford F-250 pick-up truck was traveling southbound SR-49 south of Springfield Road at an unknown speed. This location is just north of the city of Sonora. The Ford F-250 crossed over the double yellow lines into the northbound lane, colliding with the Peterbilt head on. The Peterbilt dump truck overturned blocking both lanes of SR-49 and spilling the load of sand onto the roadway. The Ford F-250 sustained major damage and subsequently caught on fire.

Rail Road Flat, CA...On 9-20-17 at about 9:00am, members of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team served a search warrant at a location in the 400 block of Ridge Road, Railroad Flat. Investigators had identified several hundred marijuana plants growing at this location. The property was not registered as a commercial medical cannabis cultivation site through the Calaveras County Planning Department.

Murphys, CA...For over 20 years, the non-profit Ironstone Concours Foundation has presented the Ironstone Concours d’Elegance with the idea of attracting the finest examples of vintage and classic automobiles as well as vintage race cars, trucks, trailers, housecars and military vehicles. Proceeds of the event go to promote and support youth in agriculture. More than $750,000 have been raised for local Future Farmers of America (FFA) and 4-H youth activities. The Ironstone Concours Foundation also donates scholarships to the California State Fair and the Calaveras County Fair as well as the FFA Leadership Conference, Guide Dog Programs and Horse Classic. The original date of the closure of eastbound and westbound SR-4 that had been scheduled for Wednesday, September 20, 2017, is now scheduled for Wednesday, September 27, 2017. Angels Camp, CA...Bennington was driving her Jeep eastbound on SR-4 east of Stallion Way at approximately 30-40 miles per hour. Haynes was riding her Harley Davidson westbound on SR-4 at approximately 70 miles per hour approaching the Jeep's location. Haynes passed two vehicles over the solid double yellow lines and attempted to reposition back within the westbound lane. As Haynes moved into the westbound lane, she entered a right hand curve in the roadway.

Governor Brown Welcomes New Members to Under2 Coalition

New York, NY....On the eve of Climate Week NYC 2017, Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today welcomed 10 new members - including the Republic of the Marshall Islands - to the global pact of cities, states and countries committed to limiting the increase in global average temperature to below 2 degree Celsius, the level of potentially catastrophic consequences. "Climate change threatens the very existence of the Marshall Islands and many other places," said Governor Brown. "Cities, states and countries are joining the Under2 Coalition to curb emissions and prevent a horrible catastrophe."
