Local Artist, Irene Cetera-Parkeson, Has Passed Away~by Evy Dyson
"Today I have bad news. My dear and loving sister, artist Irene Cetera-Parkeson passed away on the evening of February 3rd of a sudden heart attack. Irene’s work can be seen all over the county. Her beautiful landscaping with plants and rocks work will remain for ages to come. Irene was a loving, caring and understanding person. She always shared what she had and helped others. She loved the woods and her animals. Many times fostered wild orphaned and creatures We are all heart broken and mourn deeply. Her nephews are devastated and I, her sister can’t yet get into my head that she is gone. Her husband Dan is shattered. Irene was his partner for 21 years.....
She died way too early. Just turned 52 in January.
For those who wish to send flowers to Dan, please don’t. Your kind words or a home cooked meal is what he need more than anything.
Daniel Parkeson is the widower. He lives I Mountain Ranch, 9818 Salamander creek, off whiskey slide road. Most people knew Irene. She was loved and admired by so many. Irene came to America 1973 and began working with animals for a vet. Dr Howard Kurtz in Woodland hills,Ca.
She meet Mr Richard Osborn of Donco/ Motorola who offered her an attractive job as an electronic technician in Murphy's buss. Park. Irene manufactured Security panels for Motorola and the US government. She was not trained for this but learned very quickly. When the company moved to San Diego she chose to stay in Calaveras and open up her own landscaping company. While I stayed in LA, she helped me on numerous art projects for the motion picture industry. We have lost a gifted and wonderful woman and no words can describe the pain. Below is poem written for Irene's memorial folder.
In loving memory of Irene d.o.b 20th Jan1957
d.o.d. 3rd Feb 2009
Please, don't cry, I'm not gone. I am the wind that blows.
I am the sunshine on the fields of whispering wheat.
I am the gentle spring rain against your skin.
When you wake at dawn, I am the sound of bird's flight.
The song of another life.
I am the light across the summer meadows that bring you happiness.
I am the friendly fall stars that light your way home in the dark.
I am the sparkling diamonds on the winter snow.
Please, don't cry, I'm not gone,
I am free."
