Mr. Bill is Moving On~by Kyran Enzi
Copperopolis, CA....Respected by his peers, honored by his associates, and fondly referred to as "Mr. Bill" by his staff, Bill Troyanoski has made a positive mark in the short time spent in Copperopolis as General Manager of Castle & Cooke's Saddle Creek Resort. Bill arrived at Saddle Creek in August 2005 to oversee day-to-day operations for the nationally ranked golf course, Copper Grill restaurant, and the 17 on-course bungalows. He is responsible for developing....
.
stay-play-and-dine packages, corporate retreat incentives, and enhancing guest experiences through resort amenities and activities. In addition to developing a course widely acknowledged as offering one of the best golf experiences in North America, Bill was recognized by people in every aspect of the business, including fellow operators, merchandisers, and club professionals, as one of the 20 "Most Admired Course Operators in the Nation" by Golf Inc. Magazine.
By his own definition, Bill says he is a "project person." He believes in setting high goals for himself and the resort. "If you do what you do with your heart, and do it well, it will take you leaps and bounds," Bill said recently. But he makes it clear that even though technology keeps improving, "there is really no substitute for hard work."
Soon after arriving in Copperopolis, Bill was elected President of the Copperopolis Area Business Association. During his term as President, the
Association grew to its highest peak in history. In January 2008, the members presented Bill with a plaque in apprectiation for the "vision, leadership and inspiration" he brought as their President.
Linda Beck, Special Events & Membership Director of Saddle Creek, has
worked closely with Bill during his stay. "Bill is truly loved and admired," Linda said. Then noted, "Having said that, it is just as hard for him to leave us as it is for us to let him go." Indeed. Bill knows it's true.
"It's hard to make a change," he said, as he considers how close he has become to his Copperopolis family of friends. But a new challenge beckons
at Half Moon Bay. "I'd be lying if I told you I didn't want to take my staff with me, all of them." Aloud, he mused, "I'll miss the beauty of this area, the quiet and peaceful setting..." Then added pensively, "Even though trading for more traffic, if the Pacific Ocean doesn't excite you, well..."
Obviously a difficult decision, but as his actions demonstrate, the golf resort in Half Moon Bay will benefit from the same resolve for success that shapes the person who has left Saddle Creek a legacy of leadership.
