With schools opening their doors for a new year the concern has crossed my mind on how the youth today are faced with health issues. Obesity is up in the US significantly with the younger generation. Research has suggests that obesity and superobesity in today’s youth is up 36% and 98% over the past 20 years. The average child in America gets less then 15 minutes of vigorous exercise a day and less then 43 min of moderate exercise a day. And 30% of youth(10-19) have negative attitudes towards physical education. The decline in health and the increase in obesity is very concerning. When we see this....

decline in health with our youth what does it indicate for our next adult generation? The fit fact for this month is to not only be a good role model for our children by staying active and eating well, but encourage them to participate in movement and exercise that they enjoy. Show them the splendors of delicious fresh food, and steer away from quick and instant food choices. The beauty of living in such a natural environment is that these issues are less prevalent, but we know many and are related to many that have chosen to not see the health crisis in our youth as concerning as it really is.
