Hospital Families Enjoy The Polar Express!
San Andreas, CA...On December 4th, Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital employees and their children enjoyed the 3rd Annual Polar Express. About 30 children and grandchildren, mostly from 1 year to 12 years of age, listened to the Story of the Polar Express, as presented by Mrs. Claus (Karen Shelden). Every child had a train ticket prior to “boarding” the express and holiday songs set the stage for the ride to the North Pole. At their destination, the children met Santa (Roy Shelden) and two of his elves (Nicki Stevens and Wanda Barnett). All children received a sleigh bell and a teddy bear and had the opportunity to share their wish list with Santa. After the train ride, the children and their families enjoyed the craft tables and hot cocoa and cookies.
Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital is a not-for-profit, 48-bed general acute care hospital serving all of Calaveras County. Established in 1951 as Mark Twain District Hospital and centrally located in San Andreas, the hospital is partnered with Catholic Healthcare West to further strengthen this rural hospital to meet future community needs. The hospital is supported by 31 active physicians practicing in 24 specialties.
