SMUG (Sierra Macintish Users Group) CHANGES TIME AND LOCATION OF MEETINGS PRESENTS BASICS OF GETTING THE MOST OUT OF YOUR MAC
The basics of getting to know your Apple computer and taking advantage of all it has to offer will be the focus of the Tuesday, February 9 meeting of the Sierra Macintosh Users Group (SMUG) that will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the community room of the Murphys Library, 480 Park Lane, adjacent to Murphys Park. SMUG usually meets in Arnold but is moving to Murphys for the winter to avoid potential weather problems.....
Brian Thomas, a technology specialist and trainer for the Calaveras County Office of Education, will present Part 2 of his step-by-step journey from initial start-up through customizing the system, the use of e-mail, and surfing the web. Along the way he will try to take some of the mystery out of how and why things work the way they do. As always, questions are encouraged.
“There was good attendance and much interest in Brian’s October presentation,” says SMUG president Dick Cross. “New Mac owners are often put off by the complexity of its system. Brian has a great way of making sense of it all. Even those of us who have worked with Macs for a long time find something new during these meetings.”
SMUG meetings are open to everyone at no charge.
Thomas’s job with the school district is to bring technology into schools and help teach educators how to best utilize technology in the classroom. He is an active member of Computer Using Educators and as part of his job teaches technology classes that are open to educators and the general public. SMUG has contracted with him to provide several presentations throughout the year.
SMUG exists to keep Mac users abreast of the latest developments and to address the nagging questions that arise from time to time. Its goal is to take the mystery out of computers and to enable members to take advantage of all the features their Macs possess.
SMUG was founded in 1995 and is a non-profit organizations run completely by volunteers. Annual dues are $15. For more information visit the SMUG website at www.goldrush.com/~smug.
