New CCWD General Manager Named~by Pat Emerson
San Andreas, CA...Joone Kim Lopez has been hired to serve as General Manager of the Calaveras County Water District starting June 1, 2010. Lopez joins CCWD having most recently served as the Vice President and Assistant General Manager of the Apple Valley Ranchos Water Company in San Bernardino County. She previously served as the Deputy General Manager of the Central Basin Municipal Water District. She has a Masters degree in Public Administration from California State University, Northridge. Her record of public service is extensive, including service as a peace officer with the Pasadena Police Department where she won commendations, including a medal for bravery under fire. ...
Lopez has particular expertise in organizational effectiveness and in establishing partnerships with a particular focus toward analyzing projects, programs, and regulations to mitigate their financial impacts and improve their effectiveness. Her efforts with AVRWC resulted in nearly $2 million in annual savings from effectiveness/efficiency improvements. Her efforts with CBMWD resulted in a number of effective utility efficiency and conservation programs that combined the efforts of a wide range of public and non-profit organizations. Lopez takes over from Larry Diamond, who had served as Interim General Manager since the departure of General Manager David Andres in May of 2009. Lopez begins work at CCWD June 1, 2010.
Following her appointment by the CCWD Board at its May 19th meeting, Lopez said, "I look forward to working with the Board and staff as a team to promote regional collaboration in finding solutions to ever-growing challenges that face the District and our region."
