Letter to the Editor~by Roger Mueller

"DON’T ASK BILL...Who’s paying for those nasty mailers attacking Supervisor Merita Callaway? Don’t ask Bill McManus or his supporters in the Political Action Committee. They won’t tell, even if it means thumbing their noses at the law. What is McManus’s position on four basic issues facing the County? Don’t ask. He’s refused to put them in writing for a local newspaper, suggesting he’s afraid someone might hold him accountable.....

What does McManus really know about county government? He’s promised to be our savior. He’s pledged to single-handedly turn around the local economy, to create jobs, to bring businesses into the area. And just how does he plan to do this? Well, forgive him if he’s a little short on the details, it’s the promises that count.

Merita Callaway has demonstrated over and over again that she is a valuable member of the Board of Supervisors who knows how to work with others to get jobs done, to find money for important projects, and to keep the needs of her constituents uppermost. These are tough times for the county. Revenues are declining, people are out of work, home prices continue to fall. Let’s not sell short the potential for renewal that comes from having an experienced, honest, straight-talking supervisor who will answer our questions, tell us the truth, and knows how to get the job done. We don’t need McManus’s empty promises and secret supporters. We need a better future. We need Merita Callaway for Supervisor.
