Press Release Regarding FPPPC Campaign Filings~From Bill McManus

June 3, 2010 Hanford Hill, Calaveras County. Late this afternoon I received a call from Dana Nichols, reporter for the Stockton Record. Dana informed me that my campaign filings were still not available at the County Elections office. I called the aforementioned office and verified that the filings were not there. The documents were mailed, via first class postage from the Arnold post office on May 27, 2010. Additionally a copy was mailed to the California Secretary of States office at the same time. While it seems extremely odd that the Elections Office had not received them, I have taken the following steps to ensure complete and total disclosure. I faxed a copy to the Elections Office and will follow up with `hand delivered' copies tomorrow morning. I have faxed copies to the Stockton Record. I contacted Joel Metzger,of the Calaveras Enterprise, and told him of the problem and will`hand deliver' a copy to them tomorrow morning(not in time to answer the Enterprise's article), but he assured me they would appear in the `online' edition of the Enterprise. I also `hand delivered' a copy to the PineTree for online publication ....

I will be following up with The Calif Secretary of State's office to verify that they received the documents in a timely manner tomorrow.

My previous offer to provide access to these documents at my office still stands. Simply stop by the office and you can review the documents and ask whatever questions you
might have.

I would like to thank Dana Nichols for having the professionalism to at least call me regarding this matter. Without his call, I would have continued to presume that the `missing' documents were actually at the County Elections office. When I contact the Secretary of State's office, I will request that `inquiries' be made with the County Election's Office about procedures to ensure that important documents are safely handled by staff.

Bill McManus"
