There will be a meeting of the Calaveras County Board of Education on Monday, August 30, 2010. The regular meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m. and will be held in the Conference Room of the County Office of Education.

Any writings or documents that are public records and are provided to a majority of the County Board regarding an open session item on this agenda will be may available for public inspection during normal business hours at the Calaveras County Office of Education located at 185 So. Main Street, Angels Camp.

Requests for any disability-related modification or accommodation, including auxiliary aids or services in order to participate in the public meeting may be made by contacting the Office of the County Superintendent at (209) 736-6007 at least two days prior to the scheduled meeting. Agendas and other writings may also be requested in alternative formats, as outlined in section 12132 of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

4.1 Recognition of Linda Mariani
The County Superintendent of Schools and the County Board will recognize Linda Mariani for sixteen years of service to the Calaveras County Office of Education upon her retirement.
4.2 Presentation of Calaveras County Office of Education Donation to Penny West
The County Superintendent of Schools and the County Board will present Penny West with a donation to support the Calaveras County Arts Council – Artists in the Schools Program.
4.3 Celebration with Columbia College on their purchase of Calaveras County Office of Education’s property to house the new Calaveras Campus of Columbia College
Dr. Joan Smith, Chancellor of Yosemite Community College District, Dr. Richard A. Jones, Interim President of Columbia College, and Pat Dean, Board of Trustees plan to attend the celebration

6. PUBLIC HEARING
6.1 Sufficiency of Textbooks and Instructional Materials
To allow participation by parents, teachers, and members of the community interested in the affairs of the schools operated by the Calaveras County Office of Education to make a determination as to whether each pupil enrolled in such schools has sufficient textbooks or instructional materials, or both, that are consistent with the content and cycles of the curriculum framework adopted by the state to use in class and to take home, prior to adoption of a resolution by the County Board of Education.

7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
