We the voters in Calaveras County District 5 struggled with the stories posted and the comments made by our local news sources. That said it would be great if the news agencies that posted stories would review some basic journalism rules
Rule – 1
Get the facts right! Take time to make sure the facts are correct! Accept the fact that there are two stories and know the facts of BOTH stories before you post or print anything! Never make a deadline so important that you do not follow this rule!....
Rule – 2
Read rule 1 again!
Writing news stories is a thankless job and you can never make everyone happy. Usually telling the truth makes many uncomfortable and unhappy but that is the job. People complaining about your job as a reporter because you “tell the truth” will be your next story.
