Dear Copperopolis Veteran of Foreign War
As you may know we are so very close to our goal of 35 new and transfer/reinstate veterans of foreign war to begin filing for a VFW post in Copperopolis. We have received support from our neighbor post 2600 in San Andreas and an outpouring of local support through contributions and use of facilities. Due to the numbers we have already received all paperwork from I felt it was time to contact Sacramento regarding where we stood. It was brought to my attention that because I am not a veteran and because we have almost reached our goal of membership, I am no longer permitted to participate in the formation process. This being the case, I am sad to say that I am stepping down.....
This is the time for some of you to step up. If you have the time and the drive, we need at least two more volunteers to help organize and move forward with our mission to have a VFW Post in Copperopolis. This by no means infers that you have been elected as an officer or are committed to a long term obligation; this is just a group of you needed to tie up the loose strings and finish the job I have begun.
I want to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for your service to our country. The selflessness of you and those that came before you, have created a country where my children and my grand children have the opportunity to follow their dreams and reach for the stars.
It was a pleasure and an honor meeting each of you, and I hope that you will continue with my efforts and that my son’s dream of a VFW in Copperopolis will become a reality.
The next meeting will be held December 19, 2010 at Micki & Larry’s Sports Pub in Copperopolis at 2:00 pm.
