Letter of Thanks~by Mark Campbell, Superintendent, Calaveras Unified School District
I want to extend my respect and appreciation to all who contributed to A Christmas to Remember, the annual donation drive that provides new clothing for students in the Calaveras Unified School District. This effort is done in conjunction with founding members in Amador County and the support of Jim Guidi and Hometown Radio as well as Patty Knobelauch was critical to our overall success. The Calaveras County fund-raising effort generated a bit over $13,000 this year, which was $5000 more than last year. Given the economic challenges we all face, to be able to generate this amount is a significant tribute to our community. Specific thanks goes out to Gene Weatherby of the ......
Mokelumne Hill Lions Club for his communication and coordination efforts and all local Lions Clubs, as well as the West Calaveras Rotary Club for their participation in the event. Thank you also to K-Mart in Martell for their role in creating this opportunity for our kids. The amazing effort of all involved resulted in 140 students each receiving $100 worth of new clothing during the holiday season, thus helping to make the season a bit brighter for some of our kids.
