Catholic Healthcare West (CHW) Community Grants Awarded
Stockton, CA...At a recent awards luncheon at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Stockton, four Calaveras County organizations received a total of $22,000 from the 2010 Catholic Healthcare West (CHW) Community Grant Program. The awards were presented by Feliciano Jiron, President and CEO of Mark Twain St. Josephs Hospital, Larry Cornish, V.P, Facilities and Project Development, and Lew Steele, Vice Chair of the Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Healthcare Corporation Board of Trustees. The awardees included the Calaveras Children’s Dental Project, the Calaveras Senior Center, the Resource Connection Early Childhood Programs and the Resource Connection Food Bank to support their community projects. Each year Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital and Catholic Healthcare West seek to partner with Calaveras County nonprofit organizations who are working to improve the health status and quality of life of the local communities....

Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital is a not-for-profit, 25-bed Critical Access Hospital serving all of Calaveras County. Established in 1951 as Mark Twain District Hospital and centrally located in San Andreas, the hospital is partnered with Catholic Healthcare West to further strengthen this rural hospital to meet future community needs. The hospital is supported by 36 active physicians practicing in 24 specialties.
