Letter to the Editor~by Al Duncan

I think I have a solution for the causes of the decline in home and business construction in Calaveras County over the past few years.
1- The Red Legged frog in Cosgrove Creek.
2-Vernal Pools throughout the County.
3-Tiger Salamander seen near Burson.
4-Elderberry Bushes & Elderberry Beetles. Near San Andreas new jail site and elsewhere.
5-Sequoia Tree, looks like it might die.....

All of the above have either caused damage, cost overruns, ruined peoples retirement plans, etc. Over the past 30 years in Calaveras County.

Here's a quick, inexpensive, logical fix. Have someone donate, there have already been offers, for a 20 acre isolated location that has vernal pools and an all year round creek. Plant the bushes, move the beetles and frogs.

Put up some large signs with some official looking government emblem on it. "Trespassers Will Be Shot!"

You'll have all the bugs, bushes, reptiles ya need. Tra La.
