Happy Birthday Dr. Suess!
Murphys, CA....In celebration of Dr. Suess and all of his incredible books, a Read Across America extravaganza took place on the campus of Michelson Elementary School in Murphys. Students were greeted first thing in the morning by a special tandem reading of Green Eggs and Ham by school Librarian Melissa Francis who read the story in English and then 2nd grade teacher Suzanne Mattson echoed it in Italian. BRAVO! What a treat!! Speaking of treats, Melanie Klann made "green eggs" and ham for everyone, which was .....

really a Pesto shortbread on green ham! YUMMY! The children then paired up with their grade level buddy class and enjoyed reading, reading, and more reading and continued their buddy time together with a fantastically fun SAM I AM art project. Finally they got to choose to display their finished art projects in the gym at the location of their choice...Dr Suess style...in a box, in a car, in a tree, train, dark, rain, goat or even a boat!! But just when they thought the fun couldn't continue any longer, it was BRUNCH FOR LUNCH day in the cafeteria. And yes, it was green egg omlettes, ham, and lots of other yummy brunch foods.
