Murphys, CA....Save the Date - Murphys Irish Day will be on Saturday March 19th - Join us for our annual celebration of all things Irish featuring a parade, vendor booths and free entertainment on the street from 8-5. Creative Cookware LLC-Where it Pays to Shop Local - On Tuesdays and Wednesdays local customers will receive 15% off any purchase in the store, except electrics. Purchases must be paid by cash or personal check and customers should be prepared to show their driver's license as proof of local status. Saturdays in February & March - Guided Walks, Calaveras Big Trees State Park at 1pm. - Walk is 1.5 to 2 hours, limited to 30 people. Saturdays in February & March - Walking Tours of Historic Downtown Murphys are available at no charge on Saturday mornings at 10am leaving from the Old Timers Museum across from the Murphys Hotel. March 4. 2011 - Murphys Senior Center Presents Big Band Night in Murphys Featuring the Tradewinds Dance Band from 6:30 to 10 pm at the Native Sons Hall. A $50 per person donation includes a no-host bar with exceptional appetizers, a free take home portrait and a lot of fun. Please dress casually elegant for this first class affair. This is the only fundraiser for the Murphys Senior Center and all proceeds fund the center's programs. Call 209-728-1672 for reservations or more information.

March 8, 2011 - SMUG Meeting at the Murphys Volunteer Library - Global Positioning System (GPS) and the use of Windows applications on Apple computers will be among the topics covered when The Sierra Macintosh Users Group (SMUG) holds its monthly meeting Tuesday, March 8, beginning at 2 p.m. in the community room of the Murphys Library. Paul Keaton will be making the presentations and leading the discussion. SMUG members will be on hand to answer a wide range of computer related questions. The library is now equipped with Wi-Fi so members are encouraged to bring their laptops. SMUG meetings are open to everyone and there is no charge to attend.
