Murphys, CA....Mr Frog's Wild Ride Needs Volunteers - We need your help on Saturday April 16 for 2-3 hour shifts doing a variety of volunteer work at the park and on the course. To make it clearer and easier we now have a form which allows you to pick a shift or shifts and asks you to provide your contact information. Just click on the link, fill in your information and check the appropriate boxes, click Submit, and you're done! This year every volunteer will be given a ticket to the post-ride BBQ dinner. Come by the park after your shift, listen to the music, have a glass of wine or a beer, mingle .....

Tuesdays in April - Winemaker's Night at Alchemy - Every Tuesday night you can expect free live music on the patio from 5:30-8:00, a delicious single price menu and wines from our local vineyards.

Saturdays in April - Walking Tours of Historic Downtown Murphys are available at no charge on Saturday mornings at 10am leaving from the Old Timers Museum across from the Murphys Hotel. April 8-10, 2011 - Lend Me a Tenor at Murphys Creek Theater - At the Black Bart Theater. The season opens with Ken Ludwig's hilarious “Lend Me a Tenor”, playing March 18 through April 10. The play is set in Cleveland in 1934, and this night is the biggest in the history of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company. World famous tenor Tito Morelli is to perform at the gala season opener. The harried General Manager hopes this will put Cleveland on the cultural map. When Morelli finally arrives it is too late for any rehearsal. Through a hilarious series of mishaps, 'Il Stupendo' is given a double dose of tranquilizers and passes out and is believed dead. What to do? You'll have to see the play to find out. April 9, 2011 - Take it to Heart Chili Cook-off - Presented by Soroptimist International of Calaveras County in the Murphys Hotel Tented Courtyard from 8 am to 4 pm. Enjoy music by Jack McGee throughout the day. KKBN Country Radio’s Big Joe & Bridgette and newly elected Calaveras County Superintendent of Schools, Kathy Northington, will officiate as Chili Cook-off Celebrity judges. Cash prizes will be awarded. Take It To Heart Chili Cook-off proceeds support SICC’s Take Women To Heart free cholesterol screening program in April & May 2011. April 12, 2011 - SMUG Monthly Meeting - The Sierra Macintosh Users Group (SMUG) will be moving to its warm-weather meeting place in Arnold for its April meeting that will begin at 7 p.m. in the assembly room of the Ebbetts Pass Fire District, 1037 Blagen Rd., just off Highway 4. SMUG meets the second Tuesday of each month. Meetings are open to everyone and there is no charge to attend. Its goal is to take the mystery out of computers and to enable members to take advantage of all the features their Macs possess. SMUG is a non-profit organization run completely by volunteers.
