Tour Guides & Cantamos Kick off Free Music in the Parks at Copperopolis, Town Square THIS WEEK!

Copperopolis, CA....One show, two sounds and performances; The Tour Guides featuring Jessica Brittany Mouser, and Cantamos, (Tour Guides unplugged ) with lead singer, Michela Macfarland.....The 20th anniversary of Free Music in the Parks is kicked off at Copperopolis Town Square, by the Tour Guides & Cantamos. On Wednesday, June 15, starting at 6:30 pm, you will be transported to another destination with their renditions of numerous and timeless songs with an emphasis on Latin styles. Whether it is bossa nova, rock, country or jazz, their groove will move you.....

Tour Guides lead singer, Jessica Brittany Mouser, has been singing for as long as she can remember. At 14, she wrote, sang, and recorded her first song. She has sung in local choirs and Sweet Adelines. At one time, she had a singing telegram business and has even been a contestant on American Idol. This is Jessie’s second full band experience.

Cantamos lead singer, Michela Macfarlane stepped out of her world as an international baroque soprano into the land of jazz and folk in 2004 with guitarist Marc Bernasconi and the release of their CD “You Call it Madness”. She joined forces with renowned jazz pianist Bob Schlesinger and released a second CD of eclectic standards entitled “here and there” in 2007. Since joining the Tour Guides in 2008, Michela has exponentially increased her exploration of musical genres by singing current pop, rock, early jazz, and bossa nova. She particularly delights in spinning out phrases in Portuguese and Spanish and is eager to bring Italian and French into the mix. When outside of Calaveras County, Michela spends her some of her time collaborating with guitarist Dennis Jaramillo and more of it chasing her toddler around the streets of San Francisco.

The band, The Tour Guides, is an eclectic group of local Mother Lode musicians, comprised of Fred Treece on lead guitar, Jay David on bass, Sam Nilsen on drums and Ron Schaner on guitar. Each member has followed a long and diverse musical path and come together successfully to create The Tour Guides.

Bring your low back chairs and picnics and sit back and enjoy the show.

Prior to the music, Calaveras Visitors Bureau is hosting Discover Calaveras at Billie Kane’s Book Shop and General Mercantile store, Once Upon a Time. Event begins at 5pm. Discover Calaveras and Music in the Parks!

The Copperopolis Town Square is located off Highway 4 in Copperopolis. Take Highway 4 West from Angels Camp and travel about 12 miles until you see the Town Square on the left. Park on the streets and enjoy the walk. The next Music in the Parks concert is June 22 at Valley Springs, Ball Field. Biscuits & Honey will perform great folk and country songs with great vocal harmony. For more details visit www.calaverasarts.org or call (209) 754-1774.
