Remodeling Transformation - Turning Your Basement or Crawlspace into Bright, Comfortable Living Space! ~By Bill Reed
Valley Springs, CA...If you own a home in the mountains, chances are you've looked at your basement or crawlspace and wondered how you could capture that space and use it more productively. Turning those open areas into bright, comfortable, usable living space may be easier than you think. We are currently in the process of creating a rec room, study, laundry and bathroom out of the previously dark crawlspace under a home built in 2001. Here's what it looked like when we started in March 2011.
Here's a progress picture taken the middle of May 2011.
Here's another example, published in Daily5Remodel.com of an unfinished basement transformed from a "dark and damp cave" into a rec room, office with built-in desk, and laundry.
This before picture shows that this space had lots of potential, but needed vision and a knowledgeable contractor to turn it into usable space.

This after picture demonstrates what can be done with a little vision and creativity. You'll notice a new bulkhead hides the ductwork and piping, and also lends some interesting lines in the ceiling.
The bright paint and new windows create an open and cheerful space for this family to enjoy.
