Swing Gitane is Featured Band at August 5th First Friday in The Park!
Murphys, CA....Swing Gitane, a band that draws its inspiration from the early to middle 20th century swing music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grapelli's Hot Club of France, will provide the musical entertainment when the Murphys Community Club presents First Friday in the Park, August 5, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Playing in the gazebo of Murphys Community Park, the group’s repertoire includes French .....
musette and gypsy styles as well as American, Latin and cowboy jazz standards. Their infectious rhythms, vocal harmonies and straight-ahead sound are designed to set toes tapping and to put smiles on the faces in the audience.
Friends and neighbors are encouraged to bring a blanket and/or lawn chairs and enjoy an evening of good music and camaraderie in the cool confines of Murphys Community Park.
There is no admission charge. Murphys Community Park is located on Algiers St. in historic downtown Murphys.
The Murphys Community Club will be selling food, wine, and other beverages beginning at 5 p.m. with the proceeds going to maintain and improve the park. This month’s menu from Jeannine Hebel, Master Chef at Val du Vino Winery in Murphys, will be smoked pork loin with orange cilantro chipotle sauce, saffron orzo with summer veggies, watermelon and cinnamon brownie. The price is $8 per person.
Val du Vino wines, along with soda and water, will be available to purchase.
The Murphys Community Club is celebrating its 43nd year of providing services and programs for the greater Murphys area. Its prime responsibility is the management and maintenance of the beautiful Murphys Community Park.
This is the fifth year the club has presented First Fridays in the Park. These summer time events continue to grow in popularity and have fast become a Mother Lode tradition.
