Letter to the Editor~by Sandy Gleason

I am not anti-gun, but ranges need to be in proper locations, not next to ranch lands. Yes, let’s use a little common sense. The Coe project was approved by the planning commission with no thought of surrounding area, and in a zone where a shooting range is not similar to other uses, nor was it approved in that zone....

Do we just let our government employees go against their own ordinances on a whim? Please everyone, look past the gossip that this is just about a shooting range. Before accusing us on Watertown road of being narrow minded, or anti-gun, please look at all of the facts.

This shooting range is too close to homes, livestock, and would ruin our way of life here. Is that what you would want in your neighborhood? Not to mention that there are plenty of areas zoned for shooting ranges in Calaveras County, why open up almost 9000 more acres for this?

Please look past the gossip and do your own research on this situation. I think many would change their views if they did.

Sandy Gleason
