Sutter Gold Mine Tours in Sutter Creek Continue On!
Vallecito, CA.... Sierra Nevada Recreation Corporation (SNRC) which operates Sutter Gold Mine Tours in Sutter Creek, announces that the popular tours will continue to be available for the foreseeable future. This announcement comes despite widely publicized announcements to the contrary...
The Sutter Gold Mining Company, SGMC, owner of the mine (and leasor of the tour operation) has proposed and publicized an early end date for SNRCs tour operation lease to make way for the re-opening of a gold mining operation. However, there are several years left on the lease and many unresolved and complex issues to be worked out before this can happen. Therefore SNRC expects to continue the tours until these issues are settled.
Sierra Nevada Recreation Corporation has operated tours at Sutter Gold Mine since 2001 and also operates Black Chasm Cavern (a National Natural Landmark) in Volcano as well as Moaning Cavern and California Cavern State Historical Landmark in Calaveras County.
Tours of Sutter Gold Mine continue daily, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The tours attract tens of thousands of visitors to Amador County, and are a major field trip destination for many schools throughout the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys.
