LEAP Let Every American Participate....The Calaveras County Fairgrounds & Jumping Frog Jubilee Along With Some of its “Frog Jockeys” Will be Featured on KCRA 3 News on KQCA My 58 Morning Show THIS FRIDAY at 8am!
Frogtown, USA.....After an exciting appearance on NBC’s TODAY SHOW last week, the Calaveras County Fairgrounds & Jumping Frog Jubilee is continuing its trip from the BIG APPLE to the BIG CAPITOL. The Morning Show on KCRA 3 News on KQCA My 58 in Sacramento will feature the famous jumping frogs of Calaveras County, and three of our local frog jockeys: Drew Sender, Breya Nobles and Kate Roberts. Frog handlers from the Frog Jump Committee will also be attending to ensure the best treatment for our amphibian friends....
Morgan Rolleri, a 4th grade student at Mark Twain Elementary, 9 years old. Morgan is one of the Frog Jockeys who can be selected online at www.frogtown.org)
Second only to the famed hosts on the TODAY SHOW, the hosts of the morning show will be using our young frog jockeys to jump frogs on their behalf as some of the initial participants in Frogtown’s new LEAP campaign. LEAP (Let Every American Participate) is a frog jockey campaign aimed to allow all Americans to reconnect with Mark Twain’s famed jumping frog celebration by “hiring” local frog jockeys to jump the amphibians during the 2012 fair. People across the world can visit the Frogtown website: www.frogtown.org to sign up for their own personal frog jockey. Frog Jockeys are school-aged youth throughout Calaveras County who will be professionally trained by the Frog Jump Committee to jump frogs on behalf of the entrant. Online entrants will be able to choose a name for their frog and select which cute little frog jockey they want to use, as well as direct their jockey on how to “handle” their frogs when persuading them to out-jump all the other amphibians of 2012.
“I believe the Frog Jockey program will add a new dimension to our Fair in the 2012 Leap Year,” commented Tim Folendorf, President of the Fair Board. “The TODAY SHOW commented that our frog jumping contest was the most interesting part of their fair segment and we plan to capitalize on this internationally-renowned story that is wholly unique to our county.” While on the TODAY SHOW, the female hosts, clearly reluctant to touch the squirmy amphibians, were the first to express the need for our young Frog Jockeys to handle the frogs on their behalf. Providing additional support of the LEAP Program, Bogs Footwear (bogsfootwear.com), the official footwear of the Calaveras County Fair is donating 3 pairs of boots as a raffle prize drawn from the first 100 people to sign up for the jockey program online in a show of support for the program.
Please tune in Friday morning to watch KCRA 3’s Morning Show on KQCA My 58 at 8:00 am, as anchors take their shot at “LEAP”ing our famous frogs, meeting three of our cute Frog Jockeys, and launching our new initiative to Californian’s throughout the state.
