Fishing Report HWY 4 Corridor September 27, 2011

Spicer has been dopping the water levels in the lake but is still producing some beautiful trout . Trollers should try using a Wild Thing, Glitter Bug, Seps, Sling Blade, Rocky Mountain, or Vance's dodger and Glitter Bug hoochie, Needlefish, Cripplure, Apex, and Wedding Rings tipped with a nightcrawler, the new Berkley Mice Tails, or Gulp Nightcrawler. The fish are being caught in the 15foot range. Lure casters should try using Panther Martin spinners, Rooster Tails, Blue Fox spinners, and flies and a cast-a-bubble. Bait fishermen should try Gulp Power Eggs (now also with Garlic Scent), Power Eggs also now with Garlic Scent, Gulp Power Bait, Glitter Power Bait, inflated nightcrawlers, crickets on a sliding sinker rig. Fly fishermen should try woolly buggers, ants, caddis, parachute flies, bees, and bead head nymphs....



Lake Alpine has been planted several times in the past few weeks, and the fishing is awesome.It is becoming more difficult to launch as boat at Lake Alpine due to the lower water levels so be careful. Bait casters should try the new garlic scented Power Eggs, Gulp Power Bait, Power Bait, Gulp Eggs, and inflated night crawler on a sliding sinker rig. Lure fishermen should try Kastmasters, Rapala's, Panther Martin spinners, Rooster Tails, Blue Fox spinners, Thomas Buoyants, and flies on a cast-a-bubble. Fly fishermen should try woolly buggers, stone flies, sparrow nymphs, adams, caddis, ants, muddlers, and bead head nymphs. Big Trees State Park is located on Highway 4 approximately three Miles above Arnold. You can contact them at 209-795-2334 or their website www.ca.gov and go to Calaveras Big Trees. There is also Golden Pines RV Resort for additional RV camping. Their website is www.goldenpinesrvresort.com. The campground at Sourgrass, Big Meadow, Stanislaus Camp, Spicer, Mosquito Lakes, and Bloomfield at Highland Lakes, and the Highland Lakes campground are now open. Contact our Dept. of Forestry for further updates regarding campgrounds at 209-795-1381.

Mosquito Lakes has still been producing some beautiful trout. Bait casters should try using Gulp Eggs, the new Garlic scented Power Eggs, Garlic scented Power Bait, inflated nightcrawlers, and crickets. Lure casters should try Panther Martin spinners, Rooster Tails, Kastmasters, Blue Fox spinners, and Thomas Buoyants. Fly fishermen should try ants, woolly buggers, adams, sparrow nymphs, zug bugs, caddis, and bead head nymphs.


White Pines Lake located near Arnold has still been producing some beautiful rainbows. You should try fishing early morning and evening as the days have too hot to fish during the day. Bait fishermen should try floating Power Eggs, Gulp Eggs, Gulp Alive Eggs, new Salmon Egg scented power bait, new Garlic scented Power Bait, Gulp Power Bait, Gulp Nightcrawlers, salmon eggs, and nightcrawlers using a cast-a-bubble and a 30" leader or a sliding sinker rig. Fly fishermen should try bead head woolly buggers, ants, blue wing olive, adams, stimulators, parachute flies, and sparrow nymphs on a intermediate line or try using a small split shot to get down to the fish. Lure fishermen should try using Panther Martin's, Kastmasters, and Rooster Tails.

The North Fork of the Stanislaus River is perfect for fishing. They also planted the North Fork last week and will be planted again this week. To check out the flows in the Stanislaus go to www.dreamflows.com. Lure casters should try Rapala's, Panther Martin Spinners, Kastmasters, RoosterTails, Blue Fox, and Mepps spinners. Bait casters should try split shotting salmon eggs, Gulp Eggs, Power Eggs, nightcrawlers and crickets on a 18" to 20" leader. Fly fishermen should try parachute flies, bead head sparrow nymphs, stone flies, bead nymphs, hoppers, caddis,woolly buggers, stimulators, and royal wulff.
