Calaveras Visitors Bureau Update ~By Lisa Mayo
Angels Camp, CA...Happy Fall! It's hard to believe that Fall is already upon us! The Calaveras Visitors Center has been busy with our walk-in visitors, keeping on par with last year's numbers to the tune of over 10,000 visitors through our doors to date for the year. A sure sign of Fall is the fact that we are already working on the 2012 Calaveras Activities Guide...
In fact, we are running quite low on the current guide so if you happen to have any extras - we'd love to get our hands on them! Also, if you plan on advertising in the guide, please be sure Ginger has your contract!
We hope that you will be able to attend the CVB Annual Dinner next week at Irish Vineyards. See below for more information.
Wishing you a great Fall season!

CA Wine MonthCalifornia Wine Month
September is California Wine Month and Calaveras County has had some great coverage beginning with the California Travel and Tourism Commission. Check out the Calaveras packages featured on their Northern California Wine page. This coverage has led to additional television and website coverage, in other words, it's gone viral! While September and California Wine Month may be almost over, it's safe to say that it's always Wine Month in Calaveras County!
Marketing Highlights
Walk-in visitor traffic remains steady in comparison with 2010 visitor counts (over 10,000 visitors to date)
Website visits are up significantly due to additional marketing the CVB is doing with VisitCalifornia.com and Comcast.com. Additionally our print advertising and editorial with VIA lends to a significant number of referrals from their website.
Recent media coverage includes:
Sactown Magazine "Small Town Getaways,"
The Examiner "Zip and Sip in Calaveras County"
Arab News "The Motherlode: California's Gold Country"
Romantic Traveling, "Murphys: Charm, History and Wine in Calaveras County"
VIA Magazine Online "Gold Country: Angels Camp, California"
CTTC, "What's New in California" featuring Courtwood Wine Tasting, Calaveras Concierge and the Mokelumne Coast to Crest Trail and James Bar Trail. This publication goes out to over 3,000 travel media leads all over the world!
These are just some of the the marketing highlights. Now more than ever, the potential for media to go viral is huge. This gives us greater coverage than we could accomplish with traditional means. We continue to keep travel media as a strong component of our marketing outreach. We'd love to hear from you: What marketing outreach are you doing that is working for you?
