Supervisor Spellman Evades Recall Challenge
San Andreas, CA...The advocates of recalling District 5 Supervisor Darren Spellman fell a few hundred votes short. They came in over 300 signatures short of forcing a recall election. They needed to get 1,702 signatures and ended up with under 1,350....
In the history of Calaveras County District 5 has always been a hotbed of political battles. It has even been difficult for anyone elected in this district to ever win a second term.
It remains to be seen is the realignment of the district to more logical population centers will make a difference in three years.
Supervisor Spellman not only had a very heated election against incumbent Russ Thomas he has still been front and center in many political skirmishes since.
