Rested and Ready...Russ Thomas Declares Candidacy for District 4 Seat. ~By John Hamilton
Copperopolis, CA...Former Supervisor Russ Thomas has thrown his hat in the ring of those that will vie for the District 4 Calaveras County Supervisors Seat. The newly configured district now includes Copperopolis, Angels Camp and as far up Hwy 4 as Vallecito....
Former Supervisor Thomas in District Four in Angels Camp Today
Since leaving office in 2010 Thomas has spent time in Somalia working as a consultant for construction company in that formerly war ravaged country. When you see Russ now he looks happy, rested and ready to serve his community again. When we we spoke with him he finds is somewhat amusing that many people have told him he looks rested and refreshed after spending time in an area with actual bullets flying as opposed to just verbal fireworks.
The redistricting should make Russ's job easier if he prevails. In our observations worked his tail off traveling to serve a district that was the most geographically challenging to serve. In fact the most efficient way to get from Copperopolis to Rancho Calaveras was to actually travel through Stanislaus and San Juaquin counties. Now the new district follows the actual life interests and pattern of those who live in the district.
Current District 4 Supervisor Tom Tryon will make a decision soon on his intentions to seek reelection. If he does run it should make for some lively debates as Thomas & Tryon have crossed swords on a number of issues.
Let the races begin...
