Labor Force Participation Rate at 30 Year Low
Washington, DC...One of the dark facts behind the good news of an improving unemployment rate is the shrinking labor force. The percentage of the US Population participating in the workforce is at 30 year lows. The graph below from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows the Labor Participation Rate for the last 10 years....

While 8.3% is a definite improvement it hides the fact that number of Americans as contributes to the economy is dropping precipitously.
When the labor force participation climbs and the unemployment rate drops then we will know we are in a real recovery
