Early Morning Residential Robbery in Valley Springs

(Valley Springs, CA) On 03/12/12 Calaveras Sheriff’s deputies received a call from a homeowner regarding a burglary in the 8400 block of O’Reilly Street, Valley Springs. The homeowner stated that between the hours of 0430 and 0445 on March 12th, an adult male entered his house while he, his girlfriend, and their two young children slept. He was awakened by a light the intruder was using while standing in the homeowner’s bedroom. While in the house the intruder also entered one of the children’s bedrooms and rummaged through a dresser drawer, awakening the child....

The intruder made his escape from the home after stealing several items with a total value of over $1,900.00. It was reported that the front door of the home had been left unlocked.
On the same date after returning home from work, the homeowner discovered that his home had also been burglarized while he was away. The burglar made off with approx. $3000.00 in additional items. It is unknown at this time if the two incidents are related, or committed by the same person. The investigation is on-going.
The Calaveras Sheriff’s Office would like to relay to all county residents the importance of keeping your vehicles, homes, and outbuildings locked. Keeping your residence locked even when you are home may prevent you from becoming a victim.
