The Eagle Lands in Angels Camp! ~By Patrick Works
Angels Camp, CA...Frank Kotowski took a giant leap for our community, as he was made an Eagle Scout today in Angels Camp. Family, friends, fellows on the Boy Scout path, as well as veterans and others of our community all came out to honor Frank for his hard work, dedication, leadership, and personal achievement today at Bret Harte High School....

Boy Scout Troop 343 has a legacy of producing Eagles, and so does the Kotowski family.
Richard Kotowski, Frank's father, as well as Frank's brother James, are also Eagle Scouts. The Kotowskis are residents of BarXX,
and since coming to Calaveras County have made a point of establishing roots, bringing all a family can to the community, and getting things done.
Today's Eagle Court ceremony is the culmination of many years of work for Frank, a Boy Scout since from the age of twelve. Frank has been lead for many years
by many in his community, not least of whom is his Scoutmaster Rog Hecocks; an Eagle Scout himself.
Leadership is a huge part of Scouting, but the achievement of Eagle rank is something that requires more than a leader...it requires a Scout
to lead him (or her) self. ThePinetree.net asked Frank if following a legacy of Eagles in the family helped or hindered his effort.
"Well of course I felt that there was a family tradition to uphold, as my brother and my dad are both Eagles. I must say though, that there
is nothing I would rather have done than be a part of that tradtion; It was a pleasure and an honor."
After having met this goal of Eagle Scout rank, Frank has the future before him. A young man of promise and proven performance, ThePinetree.net
asked Frank about his plans for tomorrow.
"I will be going to the University of Nevada Reno, to start my course in the field of nursing."
Thepinetree.net then asked Frank how he managed to balance what was useful with what was fun. Frank told us;
"Outdoor skills is my most useful merit badge. Whenever I'm outdoors, for however long, wherever I am, and in whatever weather, I am confidant
that I am safe, and those around me are safe as well. I know what to do. I must say that the most fun I've had earning a badge was with small boat sailing.
We went to Catalina Island, sailed and sailed, and enjoyed the ocean and so much else. I really recommend this to all Scouts."
Serving others...setting goals...being prepared, and having a great time doing it; Frank Kotowski is a light we can all trust and follow.
Congratulations on your rank, your achievement; and thank you for your service. We all know you will continue to serve. We're honored to serve with you.
All of Calaveras County and our region are very proud of Boy Scouts of America Troop 343, and of Frank Kotowski.
