Angels Camp Museum to Host "The History of the Frog Jump & County Fair"
Angels Camp, CA....The Angels Camp Museum will present as part of their lecture series a history of the famous jumping frog competition that began in 1928 in Angels Camp as part of the celebration of Mark Twain’s story which he heard while staying in Angels Camp in 1865. The lecture will also include a history of the Calaveras County Fair along with photographs from the past frog jumps and fair competitions. Such celebrities as Edward G. Robinson and Gary Cooper will be seen in early photos of the frog jump....
"Larry Mahan, widely regarded as one of the greatest rodeo legends of the late twentieth century, paid a visit to Frogtown in 1978 and jumped a frog during the Grand Finals. "
TICKETS:
Tickets are available in advance at the Angels Camp Museum during regular museum hours as well as the night of the lecture at the venue. Complimentary refreshments will be available on site beginning at 6:30 PM.
