Bear Valley Summer Operations in Full Swing...Albeit with a Smaller Staff ~By John Hamilton
Bear Valley, CA...Bear Valley Summer operations continue with the Bear Valley Lodge, Sky High Pizza and other core company facilities open for the summer. Bear Valley Mountain did however have to lay off 19 additional staff members in what had traditionally been year round positions. The seasons light snowfall and shortened season necessitated the cutbacks according to Bear Valley Marketing Director Rosie Sundell, It is hoped that many of the long time staffers can rejoin the company again in the winter.....
In years past the company had the luxury for carrying about 40 people year round. This year those numbers will be cut significantly.
This should be a great summer in the high country with Bear Valley Cross Country and Adventure Company having a new kayak fleet and all their usual summer adventures. The Death Ride and Bear Valley Music Festival are on tap and with the high temps of summer, natures air conditioner will be in demand from the visitors.
On many days when the lower elevations hit triple digits it can be as much as 25 degrees cooler at Bear Valley and Lake Alpine. With Lake Alpine Lodge and Bear Valley General Store under full operation there are plenty of places to shop and get supplies for your adventures.
