Ramsey Fire Update...1,155 Acres, 70% Contained, Hwy 4 Now Open Without Restriction. Crews Starting to Demobilize

Ganns Meadow, CA...Summary: Crews made significant progress through the night on containment lines with all lines holding. Steep terrain, heavy fuels adjacent to the line and limited access along the Stanislaus River continue to be problematic for firefighters. Crews will continue mop-up and fireline suppression repair through the operational period. Demobilization of resources will continue through the day. If fire lines continue to hold, demobilization of resources will increase tomorrow....

Ramsey Fire

Location: Hwy 4, 8 miles East of Dorrington

Acres Burned: 1,155

Structures Threatened:

0

Containment: 70%

Structures Destroyed:

0

Fire Started: August 11, 2012

Injuries:

6

Cause: Escaped Campfire

Total personnel assigned to the Fire: 521

Highway 4 has been opened without traffic controls. We ask that travelers to the area please use caution while driving along Hwy 4. The safety of our firefighters is a primary concern as mop-up continues along the edge of the Highway. Visitors traveling along Highway 4 should expect slow traffic and smoky conditions when traveling through the fire area. Fire crews will also be conducting chipping operations of brush materials created by fire suppression activities along Highway 4. All recreational lakes, trails and campgrounds are open at this time.

South Central Sierra Interagency Incident Management Team is assigned to the Ramsey Fire. An Incident Base Camp has been established at the Bear Valley Ski Area. For current Ramsey fire information call 951-297-3495.

Thanks to all who worked on the fire! I have really appreciated the reporting done to keep us locals informed. Pine Tree did a good job. I couldn't find any other news source with updated information.

    I couldn't agree more.
The t.v. stations ignored it the first week and then put news out about it off and on. If I want current news I come here for the latest. Thanks Kim and John for helping us stay informed.
