Calaveras Transit Passes Accident-Free Million Mile Mark

San Andreas, California – August 28, 2012 – As Calaveras Transit Driver Livier Rodriguez Vazquez carefully drove through the town of Angels Camp, California last month she passed an important transit milestone: One Million Consecutive Miles of Accident-Free Transportation for Calaveras Transit!

“We have a very thorough safety program here,” said Calaveras
Transit General Manager Cynthia Lawrence, “We meet regularly to review
safety issues, and that has paid off. I’m very happy with the skill
level and safety awareness of my Calaveras Transit drivers!”

The current accident-free streak goes back to April 2009. Calaveras
Transit is a deviated fixed route public transit system, which logs
approximately 302,000 miles annually serving communities within
Calaveras County, and extending to Columbia College in neighboring
Tuolumne County. The home of Mark Twain “Jumping Frog” fame,
Calaveras County is located about 60 miles southeast of Sacramento,
California.

Calaveras Transit is operated by Paratransit Services, a nonprofit
company based in the Puget Sound city of Bremerton, Washington.
Paratransit Services has operated the system since July 2011 from a
facility located in the town of San Andreas, the Calaveras County Seat.
Their other California operations include Lassen Rural Bus in Lassen
County, Glenn Ride and Glenn Dial-A-Ride in Glenn County, Lake Transit
in Lake County, and TRAX and ParaTRAX in Tehama County. Paratransit
Services also provides specialized transportation services for Far
Northern Regional Center in Redding.
