Mark Twain Elementary Welcomes New Principal Kevin Triance ~By Charity Maness
Angels Camp, CA...Principal Kevin Triance comes to Mark Twain School with a background in education dating back to 1996 where he began his educational career as a 2nd grade teacher at Val Verde Unified. Throughout his career he has taught at 2nd, 3rd, 7th and 8th grade levels covering subjects from general education to Algebra and Social Studies. By 2005 Triance became assistant Principal at Frazier Mountain High School but by the end of 2008 felt a need to work with students with different needs and backgrounds transferring to teach within the Los Angeles County Juvenile Youth Camps. Finally, 2012 brought Triance to Mark Twain from his last position held since 2010 as the Opportunity teacher, Athletic Director and Assistant Principal in Plumas County....
Now proud to call Angels Camp home, Triance looks forward establishing teacher instructional norms, working on expected school-wide learning results and holds a keen desire to create a better communication between parents and the school. Triance has a personal goal for the school “to achieve an 850 API score…and make sure our graduating 8th graders are prepared in every possible way for high school.”
“I enjoy every aspect of education - teaching, administering, planning, motivating and working with both staff and parents to improve the education of our kids.” Yet, as a parent, with three of his children in attendance at Mark Twain, Triance stated that in itself is “the best part of the job.”
Currently, according to Triance, there are 547 students enrolled at Mark Twain School with an additional 20 within the County classes.
New to the area and the school Triance was quick to give Kathy Six, the school secretary kudos stating that she “is the brains behind the entire operation.”
