Happenings at the Murphys Hotel...The Last Two Months :)
Murphys, CA... These last two months have been busy! Being busy is a good thing but it meant that I had to skip doing the Newsletter. So for everyone out there who have been waiting patiently here is what has been going on at The Hotel. July was full of events and celebrations: We had our annual fireworks behind The Hotel with about 50 people in attendance....
Dave and Casey Conner Tied the Knot! This was a Great Wedding and you can tell that these Two are truley in LOVE! Congrats from all of us here at The Hotel!
Reba was in town on the 21st
Kelly Clarkson and The Fray were here on the 28th
Neil and Cassandra Clerico are the Second Lucky couple to get married here at The Hotel in July. Again Great wedding and all of your Hotel family wish you two the Best!
Along with Weddings and Music we had numerous people getting older celebrating birthdays, two retirement parties, and foodie tours weekly!
Thank you to everyone who stopped by in July!
July Employee of The Month: Gary LaRussa
Gary is our Groundskeeper & Gardener, he has been with us for a couple years. If you haven't been to The Hotel for a while you should drop by and see his work. This last month we have showcased our Giant Sunflowers which all began with a little seed.
Gary worked for U.P.S for over 20 years but has always had a passion for gardening!
Aside from work Gary is happily married and has three grown children. His daughter is in college working on here Masters. His two sons are in the Paramedic/EMT field!
Gary is the reason the Hotel grounds have looked so nice the last couple years. He truly has a Green Thumb! We are very lucky to have Gary on our Team and hope he stays with us for many years to come! Thank you Gary for all your hard work!
Now For the month of August...
In August we had 1 Wedding & 6 Rehearsal Dinners! I would personally like to thank all of you again for making us your destination for your Special Occasion!
With all the Love in the air Heart came to town along with Bachman and Turner, John Fogerty , Tony Bennet & Jackie Evancho! All of these shows were located at Ironstone Vineyards! I would like to thank Ironstone for another Great concert series!
We also had a couple Historian Groups, Golf Groups, Birthday Parties & Car Clubs!
August Employee of the Month: Tyler Hubbell
Tyler has been with us for a little over two years. His job duties include dishes, prep cook and sometimes line cook! Tyler always has a good attitude and finishes all tasks assigned. He is always asking to learn more!
Tyler is a recent 2012 Bret Harte Graduate. He now attends Columbia College with intents to transfer to a State College in the future. His goal is to Major in Archeology. As for now he will continue his hospitality career with us.
When not at work Tyler or as his family refers to him "Sparky" (family nickname his Dad informed me today) likes to spend time with his beautiful girlfriend Solishia, his words! While with friends he practices a type of gymnastics/martial arts called "Tricking" it consists of flips, kicks & all sorts of twisting! Tyler has been tricking for over three years and says he loves it!
Now that all of you know a little more about Tyler I would like to personally thank him for all of his hard work and his genuine personality! Thank you Tyler for all you do, from all of your family here at The Hotel!

This Month
I can't believe we are already into September. About time to start Christmas Shopping! Here are some of the things happening in Murphys the rest of this month...
First off I would like to congratulate Doug & Gisela on 50 Years! Yes that is right The Golden Anniversary... I had the pleasure to set up a dinner for this lovely couple and serve it last night. Wonderful family and people! Thank you for sharing a little bit of your life with us here at The Murphys Hotel.
September 13th- this coming Thursday is Wines of the World starting at 530p. Always a great time! For more info. give me a call at 209-728-3444 or just stop by.
September 15th- "Taste of Calaveras" this event is held at the fairgrounds in Angels Camp gates open at 11a.m and is open to the public.We will be serving our Famous Prime Rib! Yummmm!
September 20th- Classic Car Show and Cruise Night! This is our last car show of the season so try to make it down. The cars come rolling in at 530 ish and all Classics are welcome! Live D.J., Cash Raffle, Cold Drinks & Great Food! This is a Free event and all ages are welcome. I hope to see you here!
September 22nd- Ironstone's "Concours de Elegance" The Car show of the year in northern California is right here in Murphys! There are some awesome beautiful cars at this show. There is a small fee to enter. While in town make sure and drop by the Hotel for Cold Drinks and Great Eats!
September 28th- Guess What's Back??? CIOPPINO!!! Yes Cioppino is finally back and reservations are highly recommended. Cioppino is our house made fresh seafood stew with a light tomato broth base. So Good! The price is $22.95 per person which includes a garden salad to start along with endless bowls of Cioppino and fresh garlic bread. To make your Reservations please call 209-728-3444
Like I quickly stated above the end of the year is approaching fast which means Banquets! Think of us for any and all of your Group get togethers. Thanksgiving, Family Reunions, Christmas Parties, New Years Parties! We can accommodate Groups of 20- 200. Any and All Parties Accepted! October 6th- "Grapestomp" Main street will be closed to traffic with vendors of all sorts filling the street. Teams of stompers will be geared up & ready to take home the Annual Trophy! October 11th- Wines of The World 530p-830p. This event is held in our Mark Twain Ballroom. For all that attend this wine filled night you come downstairs after and enjoy a palate pleasing entree with a generous $5.00 discount. Reservations can be made by calling 209-728-3444.

Crystal Red Head: $6.00
1 oz Crystal Head Vodka
1/2 oz Stoli Pomegranate Vodka
1 1/2 oz cranberry juice
1 1/2 oz soda water
Put all ingredients into an ice filled chimney glass.
Garnish with a lime.
Coco Loco: $6.00
1 oz 1800 Coconut Tequilla
1/2 oz Malibu Rum
1 1/2 oz pineapple juice
splash of grenadine
Float Blue Curaco
Put tequilla , rum, and pineapple juice into a shaker and shake until frothy, pour into a chilled martini glass. Splash 1/8oz of grenadine and float 1/8oz Blue Curaco. Garnish with an orange slice and a cherry!
Strawberry Lemonade: $7.00
1 oz Stoli Strawberry Vodka
1/2 oz Stoli Citrus Vodka
1 oz Sweet and Sour
2 oz Soda Water
1/2 oz Cranberry Juice
Put all ingredients into an ice filled chimney glass and garnish with a lemon slice!
