Sierra Green Days Showcases Resources for Green Living at Ironstone Vineyards

Murphys, CA...Sierra Green Days announces its third annual event, offering family fun and an educational experience with a focus on local and sustainable living. Sierra Green Days will be held on the beautiful grounds of Ironstone Vineyards just outside Murphys, CA on September 29th and 30th, 2012. As always, there is no entrance is free but a donation of a non-perishable food item to the local food bank is requested. Come experience All the charm the Sierra Foothills has to offer with healthy organic food, local musicians, Green Professional Exhibitors offering tangible ways to live in harmony with our environment, AND, most importantly a strong emphasis on practical educational program with presentations on local food production and nutrition, energy, water, shelter and preparedness for change....

“While we explore local solutions to local challenges, the ideas and actions are applicable to local areas throughout the region. It is our vision to be a hub for information and models for sustainable living through the region and beyond!” say's Johanna Atman, one of the original visionaries of Sierra Green Days and a coordinator of the event since 2010.

Amongst all the activities this event has to offer-- from local treats to community celebrations to a wide variety of speakers, SGD's committee has placed more emphasis than ever on the educational component. "There is something for everyone - healthy food, beauty, community and a high-quality educational program .to immerse yourself in for two full days! " adds Atman.

This year's guest speaker on genetically engineered foods, is Steven M. Druker. Druker is a public interest attorney who initiated a lawsuit against the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that forced it to divulge its files on genetically engineered (GE) foods. His talk, THE FDA’S GREAT GMO SCAM: Why Genetically Engineered Foods Are Illegally on the Market summarizes years of cover-up and the facts about genetically engineered foods and their impact upon people and agriculture.

SGD is intent on not only bringing the community useful information, but also how to implement it. Each seminar will include many ideas and plenty of conversation. Plan to attend the all-community kick-off opening on Saturday morning, prior to the first round of seminars, and also the Sunday afternoon “Where do we go from here?” closing integration.

About Sierra Green Days:

Sierra Green Days is a local citizen-driven event, sponsored by the local non-profit Blue Mountain Community Renewal Council. Our goal is to provide education and inspiration for a more vibrant and secure local economy and quality of life through greater community collaboration in meeting the basic human needs of food, health and shelter and community. Showcasing the green professional services available within our community, strengthens community self-reliance and economy through the support of local businesses. Our vision is to inclusively bring the community together to educate, learn, experience and be inspired about ways we can live that are truly sustainable and create vibrant communities full of life, creativity and celebration. As we find local solutions, Sierra Green Days is a regional hub and resource for innovative thinking and actions at the local level for many other communities in our region and beyond.

About Ironstone Vineyards:
Nestled against the Sierra Foothills, in the heart of California’s scenic Gold Rush Country, Ironstone Vineyards will surprise and delight you with a winery that places as much emphasis on the natural beauty and history of our surroundings, as we do on the quality of our wines.
Ironstone is so much more than a winery. Family-owned and family-oriented, there is always something interesting happening including complimentary tours, cooking demonstrations, silent movies, holiday brunches, concerts, events, and gold panning for children of all ages.
