KIDS HELPING KIDS...

Murphys, CA...HATS OFF FOR CANCER is what the 5th Grade Leadership Team is all smiles about. During the entire month of October Michelson Elementary School will be collecting brand new, never worn HATS to send to children with cancer, through the Hats Off For Cancer Foundation. They invite anyone who would like to donate a hat to their campaign to drop it off at the school. If you want, you may choose to attach a little positive wish like, Smile, You're Special, or You Are Loved! At the end of the month, the leadership team will box up the hats and send them off to children who would welcome a hat to cover their heads during and after their treatments....

This is part of Michelson's ongoing 2nd Step Program in it's 3rd year which teaches and encourages the kids to show and recognize EMPATHY. October is Good Choices Month at Michelson and the Hat Drive is just one way the children can choose to make good choices by helping others. They are also holding their annual Jog-A-Thon to promote physical fitness and will be wrapping up the month with Red Ribbon Week when all the children will be able to wear a hat to school to wrap up our Hats Off For Cancer hat drive! We hope you will find it in your hearts to purchase or donate a brand new, never worn hat to their cause! For more information, contact Debbie Rocco at drocco@vsd.k12.ca.us.
