Holiday Open Houses a Murphys Tradition!
Calaveras County, CA....Murphys celebrates the upcoming holidays big-time with two back-to-back open houses Dec. 7 and 8, 2012. Festivities begin when the Murphys Business Association hosts the annual Murphys Open House 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, replete with the lighting of the town tree, carolers, visits with Santa and a bevy of Main Street merchants offering complimentary beverages and appetizers. The community parade begins at 5:30 p.m. A long-time favorite get-together for both locals and visitors alike, the Murphys Open House is a great opportunity to experience the town’s famed ambiance and shop locally for the holidays....
On Saturday, Dec. 8, Calaveras wineries are showcased during the annual Holiday Festival of Wines taking place 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at all Calaveras Winegrape Alliance member wineries. A sampling of offerings includes sparkling wine Mimosa's and Hot Chocolate and Muscat Canelli at Stevenot Tasting Room, Sparkling Wine and Chocolate at Coppermine Tasting Room, fondue and toasty grilled cheese sandwiches at Lavender Ridge, festive treats to pair with Hovey wines, 10% off gift baskets and gift items, free wine tasting and a sneak preview of Hovey’s new dessert wine, Malvasia Bianca. Broll Mountain Vineyards will have a holiday wine sale, Frog’s Tooth Vineyards will be selling a Holiday Gift Pack consisting of our White Meritage (a blend ofSauvignon Blanc and Semillon), & our Red Meritage (Cabernet, Malbec, Merlot & Petite Verdot blend) accompanied by either logo wine glass or flavored mustards. Chef Rob, of Ironstone Vineyards, will be doing some food and winepairings, extending free Classic and Reserve tasting, free winery tours at 11:30 and 1:30 and 10% off ready made gift baskets.
Hosted by the Calaveras Winegrape Alliance, the Festival of Wines offers get-into-the-mood holiday music, culinary delights and award-winning Calaveras wines.
