Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital opens Cancer Center
SAN ANDREAS, CA, December 21, 2012 - Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital President Craig Marks announced the January opening of its first new Cancer Center serving the residents of Calaveras County. Medical Oncologist, Dr. Robert D’Acquisto, has joined the medical staff at the hospital and will work at the new Cancer Center, located on the hospital campus at 700 Mountain Ranch Road Suite B. Treatments include medical oncology, hematology, PET Scanner, chemotherapy, and infusion therapy.
Patients who need radiation services can be effectively co-managed by Dr. D’Acquisto and other Dignity Health radiation oncologists within Dignity Health’s Greater Sacramento – San Joaquin service area.
“There has been a need in Calaveras County and the surrounding communities for quality cancer care
services, close to home” said Marks. “Dr. D’Acquisto is a board certified Oncologist with over 25 years of experience. Patients who need infusions and chemotherapy and PET Scans will no longer need to travel out of the area for these services,” he added.
“When a person is diagnosed with cancer, their treatments can be both intense and emotionally challenging,” said Dr. D’Acquisto. “We treat not only the patient, but provide support to the families as
well - right here in Calaveras County.” Dr. D’Acquisto completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of California, San Francisco after graduating with a medical degree from Cornell University Medical College. He completed his hematology and medical oncology fellowship at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Center in New York. Dr. D’Acquisto is board certified in medical oncology and has practiced in California’s Central Valley and Foothill areas for the past 25 years.
“Oncology is just one of the many specialty care services that Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital will be
providing for the residents in the Tri-Counties,” added Marks, “In the very near future, Mark Twain St.
