Smart & Thompson to Be Honored at Inagural "Golden Health Awards" at Ironstone Feb., 9th Updated...
San Andreas, CA - January 22, 2013 – Mark Twain Health Care District (MTHCD) in partnership with Mark Twain Medical Center Foundation (MTMCF) announced that they will host the first “Golden Health Awards” at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys, California on February 9, 2013. These awards will be established as an annual event by MTHCD and MTMCF and will recognize and honor selected health professionals and community service organizations in Calaveras County whose efforts have made a significant positive impact on the health and wellness of the community....
 
A Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Colleen Smart of Murphys, California, who has devoted much of her life to the health needs of the community. Colleen was an active and devoted Health Care District Board member for 31 years, and was also a founding member of the Medical Center Foundation. She retired from her position on the Health Care District Board in December of 2012.
Dr. Ryan Thompson M.D., also from Murphys, California, will be presented with the Healthcare Delivery Award. Dr. Thompson is a Board Certified Family Physician who has been practicing in Calaveras County for 21 years, and is co-founder, with his wife Kim, of Mind Matters Clinic. Through specialized training and practical experience, he has become the area’s expert in assessing and treating ADHD, Autism and related disorders.
Five organizations will be honored with $1000 Community Service Awards: The Resource Connection – Calaveras Food Bank, Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program and Foundation, Blue Mountain Coalition for Youth and Families, Calaveras County Behavioral Health and Calaveras Senior Center. One of the five recipients of the Community Service Awards will be awarded an additional $4000 for their outstanding achievements for the community in 2012.
A Champaign reception will begin at 5:30pm in the Culinary Center, transitioning to the Music Room for dinner and the awards ceremony at 6:30pm. The Sequoia Musical Trio will provide live entertainment during the event, and dress is formal (black tie optional).
