Sierra Foothills Artisan Cheese and Wine Festival!

Calaveras County, CA...After the outstanding success of last year, Lavender Ridge Vineyards is pleased to announce the details of the 2nd annual Sierra Foothills Artisan Cheese Festival taking place at the picturesque vineyard property and winery of Lavender Ridge and Coppermine Winery. This years cheese festival will include wine and cheese tasting, a cheese marketplace, demonstrations and workshops, and special appearances by local and regional cheese makers and producers....

Lavender Ridge Tasting Room is located at 425 Main Street in Murphys with the vineyard and winery in Copperopolis only open for private events. The historic town of Murphys in Calaveras County is best known for its gold mining discoveries and fortunes made and has recently received much acclaim as an up and coming wine region and tourist destination. There are 23 wine tasting rooms located along a one mile stretch of Main Street in Murphys and Lavender Ridge Winery and Tasting Room is one of the most popular. The tasting room is housed in one of oldest original buildings in the town of Murphys, which was established in 1848. It can be recognized by its original stone facade and iron shutters. The tasting room is also home to one of the most unique collections of artisan cheese and specialty gourmet food products in Calaveras County. When tasting at Lavender Ridge Tasting Room, each wine varietal is paired with a different featured cheese making the wine tasting experience at Lavender Ridge unlike any other in Northern California.

“At our tasting room, we offer the opportunity to enhance your wine tasting experience by pairing an artisan cheese with our handcrafted Rhone varietals. Unlike other wine and cheese tastings where one or two cheeses are offered along side all the wines at a tasting, we select the perfect cheese to go with each individual wine and our professional staff is educated about each selection.” Explains Judy Creighton, Lavender Ridge Cheesemonger and columnist for Sierra Lodestar Magazine. Judy is also a core instructor at the Cheese School of San Francisco and C’est Le Cheese in Sacramento.

This years Sierra Foothills Artisan Cheese Festival, scheduled for May 4th from 12pm to 4pm, will include an artisan cheese marketplace with local and regional small production cheese makers in attendance, each offering numerous cheese selections and pairings for sampling. The handcrafted wines of Lavender Ridge and its sister winery Coppermine, will be offered and will include their highly rated Rhone and Bordeaux varietals. The cheese festival highlights however, will be the numerous small workshops, demonstrations, winery and cave tours that will be going on throughout the day.

An artisan cheese and wine festival is just another reason to visit the Sierra Foothills and take in its beautiful scenery, recreation, history, charming towns, great restaurants and its abundance of award-winning wines. For more information and tickets to the festival, call Lavender Ridge at (209)-728-2441, visit their website at www.lavenderridgevineyard.com or email lavenderridgeevents@gmail.com.
