Matt and Suzan Cullen Named Irish Day Parade Grand Marshals. Murphys Irish Day 2013 – Saturday, March 16
Murphys, CA...Matt and Suzan Cullen, who have been a positive force in their community in many ways, will be serving as the Grand Marshals of this year’s Murphys Irish Day Parade when it makes its way down Main Street on Saturday, March 16, at 11 a.m. The Cullens are best known as the founders of the Gold Country Coffee Roasting business, the only Calaveras County coffee roaster. They operated the business for many years before retiring. Not only did they create fine coffee, their store served as a meeting place for many civic groups, including the Murphys Business Association and the Irish Day organizing committee....
“One of the perks we get for putting on the parade is the honor of selecting the Grand Marshal,” states Carrie Nelson, who along with her husband Gerry are the new parade coordinators. “We feel the Cullens’ generosity in providing a space where many local groups gather should be applauded.”
The Cullens have been active in other ways. Suzan is a past president of the Master Gardeners, a charter member of the Ebbetts Pass Investment Club, and an avid golfer. Matt is an accomplished singer, having performed in many local venues including Friday nights at Alchemy. He has recorded four albums, the latest being “Catch Someone’s Eye”. Matt Cullen and Friends will be performing during Irish Day.
In the parade, the Cullens will be riding in a 1924 3-litre Bentley owned and driven by Rob Miller of Murphys.
